About the commune:

The Chocianów Commune is an urban-rural commune located in the north-western part of the Dolnośląskie Voivodeship in the Polkowice poviat, in the area of ??the Legnica-Głogów Copper District. The area of ??the commune is 222 km2. The city of Chocianów is the administrative center, where 61.21% of the commune's population lives. The city is located in the eastern part of Bory Dolnośląskie, west of Lubin and north of Chojnów. The commune includes the town of Chocianów and 12 villages: Chocianowiec, Żabice, Jabłonów, Michalów, Ogrodzisko, Pogorzeliska, Rakow, Szklary Dolne, Trzmielów, Trzebnice, and Brunów. The commune borders on such communes as: Chojnów, Gromadka, Lubin, Polkowice, Przemków, Radwanice.

The city of Chocianów is a local social center, the most important public institutions are located here, i.e. the City and Commune Office in Chocianów, primary schools, secondary school, public kindergarten, Medicus health center, Regional Cultural Center, public library, Post Office, Volunteer Fire Department, Police, Banks, Gas station, shops (including discounters such as Netto, Dino, Biedronka and Carrefour).

The Chocianów commune has a well-developed social infrastructure, guaranteeing a high quality of life for its inhabitants. It is an area attractive for investment and tourism, caring for the natural environment. Integrated and entrepreneurial residents live here.

The Chocianów commune has a well-developed road and communication system, which is sufficient in terms of the density of the communication network. From the point of view of local and regional connections, the communication location of the commune is very favorable, because important road and rail routes in the south-western part of the country run in its immediate vicinity:

  • 18 km from Chocianów there is the S3 express road connecting Świnoujście with Szklarska Poręba –Jakuszyce (Polish - Czech border).
  • 21 km from Chocianów there is a motorway junction (the "Krzyżowa" junction) where the A4 and A18 roads intersect. The A18 –A4 (E36 –E40) motorway communication route connects Berlin and Dresden with Wrocław and further with Katowice, Kraków, and ultimately with Lviv and Kiev.
  • 20 km from Chocianów there is also the national road No. 94 connecting Kraków with Zgorzelec, which is an alternative to the toll road on most sections of the A4 motorway.

Distances of major urban centers:

  • Zielona Góra–  80 km,
  • Wrocław – 115 km,
  • Poznań – 160 km.

Thanks to the good location and bus connections, inhabitants of the Chocianów commune have many opportunities to study at renowned universities in Wrocław, Poznań or Zielona Góra. In addition, in the commune there is free public transport on the route Chocianów - Lubin - Chocianów, where the organizer of transport is the County of Lubin, and on the route Chocianów - Polkowice - Chocianów, where the organizer of transport is the Municipality of Polkowice.

Another important aspect that influences the attractiveness of the commune in terms of investment location is the possibility of establishing cooperation with nearby companies at the level of production and services. In the vicinity of the commune there is the LSSE (Legnica Special Economic Zone), in which such companies are located as Volkswagen Motor Polska Sp. z o.o. (Germany), Sitech Sp. z o.o. (Germany), Viessmann Technika Grzewcza Sp. z o.o. (Germany), Sanden Manufacturing Poland Sp. z o.o. (Japan), Royal Europa Sp. z o.o. (Canada), Faurecia Legnica S. A. (France), Gates Polska Sp. z o.o. (USA), CCC Factory Sp. z o.o. (Poland).

                                        

 

The Chocianów commune is also close to the Legnica-Głogów Copper District (LGOM), which is the main center of the copper industry in Poland and one of the largest centers of copper extraction in the world. We are both in the vicinity and in the mining areas of the mining industry, which is the center of world leaders in the mining sector and in copper processing - KGHM Polska Miedź S.A.
